Short Bio:
I was raised in Texas, but I have lived in Indiana for about 27 years. In 2016 after suffering from congestive heart failure I decided to turn my attention to writing. I already had some experience in writing and photography while writing articles and taking pictures for ABATE of Indiana, region nine highlighting motorcycling riding events which were posted in their monthly magazine during 2004-2005.
I’m currently married to Cindy for 33 years and we have two grown daughters and three grandsons. I’ve been a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association since 2002. I have held various positions within the local chapter #481 JC’s Bunch which evangelizes at motorcycle rallies and events. I currently hold a position of chapter president. I have also been a member of the Louisville Christian Writers since 2019.
Here’s the longer version!
I grew up in Houston, Texas, until around 1971, and we moved to Beaumont, Texas. We moved to a small township outside of Beaumont called Bevil Oaks. From living in the big city to living out in the country. All I had to do was cross a drainage ditch, and I was in the Big Thicket. From there, I got into hunting, and my friends and I spent a lot of summers boating through the bayou, fishing, camping, and hiking.
When I got out of trade school in 1982, I worked various odd jobs because the economy was so bad due to oil going bust. I finally found a career as a mechanic, got married, and moved back to Houston. Eventually, I went to work for J.B. Hunt Transportation and decided to go to college at night. This was a shock for my dad because I was never a good student in school unless it was a subject I liked (history, government, and Future Farmers). I always had a magazine or book under my nose in most other classes. The shock for my dad was that I had kept a 3.5 to 4.0 GPA while in college.
Before completing my degree, I was asked to transfer to Louisville, Kentucky, to help open a new terminal. Here I found new hobbies. I got into rock climbing and relearned riding a motorcycle. Every time I asked about moving back to Texas, I received a promotion and pay raise. And the rest is in the short bio.
I still enjoy reading very much, and I read many different genres and authors. I guess it’s like my taste in music. I can listen to classical music to some heavy metal. I know it’s a wide range.
